Both of our college locations make for the perfect summer seaside location but when the darker nights draw in what exciting events do these two historic cities offer you; as well as what Christmassy activities can you get up to?

Plymouth

Britain’s Ocean City transforms into a magical winter wonderland when the clock strikes December. With the Christmas lights on and the Christmas market thriving, you are never short of festive adventures in the city centre.

One modern-classic treat to experience from the market is the incredible Yorkshire pudding wrap, filled with all of the tasty ingredients that come together to create the Great British roast dinner. With plenty of places to take a photo with your friends or family, your Instagram will be full of the bright Plymouth Christmas lights.

Should you wish to travel a little out of the city centre, the local popular National Trust spot, Saltram House, has transformed its interiors and garden to become enchanted. Full of amazing lights and exciting decorations, this is proving to be a massive hit this year and one you really should try and visit; it is running all throughout December.

Portsmouth

The Great Waterfront city, known widely for its impressive Emirates Spinnaker Tower and exciting Gunwharf Quays designer shops, Portsmouth continues its eye-catching events throughout the holidays. 

With plenty of shows and even Santa setting up his toymaker workshop at the Emirates Spinnaker Tower. You can even take a trip to Fort Nelson to experience a true Victorian Christmas, complete with all of the sweet treats and impressive outfits the people of the Victorian era would have shown off with pride throughout the festive period.

If you are looking for something a bit active to burn off some of the Christmas sweet treats you’ll be enjoying, the Guildhall Square offers an ice skating rink. Allowing you to get your skates on and glide your way into the festive spirit.
